The alex drawers themselves came with 4 small rubber plastic kind of feet spacer type things that go on top of the drawers at the corners thus you can rest the countertop on top and everything is snug and secure. I had the same question before buying. However the best location for my desk will only support about 160cm long table and the karlby is about 183cm.
